Screenshots!

I've put up a few choice screenshots from BLOOD: Butcher’s Block in the Media section.

Included is a couple of shots of the Goreman family home, a shot from a struggle with one of Red River's least friendly residents, and as promised, a shot of Lydia Lewis in her attic bedroom.

Hope you like the screens, and watch for a gameplay trailer video coming very soon!

Media Update!

We've' shut down Maya and Dev Studio long enough to put together a small teaser video for BLOOD: Butcher’s Block that you can find in the Media section.  Just a taste of what’s to come, and we hope it whets your appetite!

In the weeks and months ahead, we intend to make more frequent updates, including posting screenshots, production art, and maybe even a behind-the-scenes video or two, so please drop by now and then to see what we’re up to.

I was OOO for a while this week to attend Vidfest 2007, and had a great time.  I talked about our projects at the Pitch ‘n’ Play event on Saturday, alongside the finalists in Telefilm’s Great Canadian Video Game Competition.  Congratulations to the MindHabits, who walked away with the big cheque!

Yesterday, I attended the International Partnering Forum organized by NewMedia BC, which was a brilliant event.  Basically, speed dating for businesses.  It was a great opportunity to meet with businesses from all over the world.  As great as that was, the highlight for me had to be meeting with the folks from Vancouver’s own Stage 3 Media, creators of the totally awesome Sanctuary web show.  If you haven’t checked out Sanctuary, click on over there right now – well, after checking out the game’s new teaser video of course!

Welcome!

Welcome to http://www.powerupstudios.com!

After several months with our noses to the game development grind stone, we have finally got around to setting up our web page! Now you can see our Mission Statement, learn About Us, check out our current Projects, and even drop by our Forums to say hello! Soon, we’ll have screenshots and a teaser trailer from our first project, Blood: Butcher’s Block, so be sure to check back for updates!

Bren and Matt attended the Vancouver International Games Summit last week, and found it a very worthwhile way to spend two days OOO. In many ways, we think it will prove to be more valuable than even the Game Developers Conference we attended in March, mainly because the smaller size and local focus meant more meaningful connections could be made. We found it particularly validating that so much was said about alternative business and development models, and that people were so interested and supportive of the way we’ve gone about building PowerUp. Hopefully, the show organizers found it to be as big a success as we did, and will continue to run the VIGS in coming years.

I guess it’s about time we get back to making the game, so have a look around, and be sure to return, as we plan to post more news, screenshots and videos in the weeks and months ahead.

Later,

Bren and Matt
